A teacher splashed out HK$580 for two 18-egg-yolk mooncakes in a Cheung Sha Wan traditional bakery to teach his students about traditions for Mid-Autumn Festival.

Despite all the new styles, traditional mooncakes are still in demand. Citizens queued outside the Mei Ki Heung Bakery in Cheung Sha Wan to buy handmade traditional mooncakes.

Buyers said that compared to machine-made ice-crust mooncakes, the traditional tastes are unique and irreplaceable. Some people came specifically to buy "18-egg-yolk mooncakes" to celebrate the festival.

A citizen surnamed Dang, holding the giant mooncake, laughed and said: "Sharing the mooncake after a reunion meal with family is interesting and also has a good meaning for the festival."

In addition, buyers said mooncakes in this traditional bakery can be bought in bulk, and a box of mooncakes can have different flavors of their choice.
